Sustainability management

Preparing for ISCC EU Certification

Mercurol is building the supplier, traceability, accounting and data controls needed to support a co-processed fuel supply chain.
Programme overview

Building the system before making the claim

Mercurol is implementing a sustainability management system in preparation for ISCC EU certification. This work covers supplier and feedstock qualification, traceability, proportional mass balance accounting, greenhouse gas data management and the controls needed to support sustainability declarations.

Our approach links incoming feedstock evidence, refinery production records and outgoing product documentation. Sustainability characteristics will be communicated according to the applicable requirements and the scope of the certification once obtained.

Implementation workstreams

Five controls working as one system

The programme is designed around evidence continuity from supplier qualification through product documentation.

All workstreams shown are under implementation in preparation for certification.

Supplier and Feedstock Qualification

Reviewing supplier information, feedstock evidence and the records needed to establish eligible incoming material.

Traceability

Connecting incoming evidence with refinery production records and outgoing product documentation.

Proportional Mass Balance

Tracking accepted quantities through conversion, recorded losses and proportional allocation to withdrawals.

Greenhouse-gas Data Management

Preparing the supporting data route and controls needed for sustainability information.

Sustainability Declarations

Preparing controlled documentation for future declarations within the applicable certification scope.

Evidence continuity

From incoming material to outgoing documentation

Mercurol’s implementation work connects the evidence created or received at each point in the programme.

01

Qualify

Review supplier and feedstock information before acceptance.

02

Record

Maintain traceability links through refinery processing.

03

Allocate

Apply proportional mass balance using accepted inputs, conversion factors and losses.

04

Declare

Prepare outgoing documentation within the applicable certification scope once obtained.

Accounting approach

Proportional Mass Balance

Proportional mass balance tracks eligible quantities through the supply chain and allocates them proportionally to withdrawals from the relevant product pool. The attributed quantities are supported by accepted inputs, documented conversion factors and recorded losses.
